Notes
Reported by Worth. Butler, Volume 3 p.194, says in relation to the cist
He also recorded a second circle about 155m to the north, 10.7m in diameter with six stones standing and one displaceed. This area hopelessly encumbered with tree roots and fallen branches, is too disturbed for any recognisable structure to have survived.
There were also numerous features recorded a long way to the south in Dendles Wood but they are all to the south of the cist. The area is not so tree covered today. Is the location correct? Has it been destroyed or could traces still remain? The HER grid reference is closer to the cist but Butler's grid refence is probably more accurate. See also

Butler mentions an account from Worth from 1924 but while there is a description of the Dendles Waste cist in barrow report 43 there is no mention of this feature. The HER entries refer to accounts from Worth from the late 40s but none of the published writings from that time mention Dendles. Are these references to unpublished works? There are no references given by either Butler or the HER to the source so the origin of these accounts is unclear.
