Originally identified as another hut circle, this feature may be a clearance cairn. Location of scheduled area is slightly too far to the south-east; the 2003 survey places this feature at SX5545 7773.Butler depicts 4 cairns(?) in Fig. 30.2 (1991) p. 68. Newman (2203) depicts 3 clearance cairns on Fig 9. This record is for the 4th of Butler's cairns and grid reference SX 5551 7776 is estimated from Butler plan. This almost coincides with HER record MDV46975 which is located at SX 5550 7771. [NB. The 2003 NGR is quite different]. We assume this HER record is the same as the 4th Butler Cairn and we use the HER record NGR until clarification by field work.
